An 18-year-old from East Boston was killed Sunday in a single vehicle crash in Vermont that left two other Massachusetts residents with serious injuries, officials said.
Vermont State Police said troopers responded to the report of the crash on I-91 in Barton around 12:43 p.m. The initial investigation indicates that a vehicle — a 2013 Ford Explorer — carrying three East Boston residents was traveling north when it veered off the right side of the interstate and down an embankment where it struck the wood line and a concrete dividing wall.
The driver, 30-year-old Ediberto Luna, sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and was taken first to North Country Hospital and then Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. Jorge Caballeros, 33, was seated in the front seat and sustained serious injuries and was also eventually transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.
